This is an uncommon Dutch map depicting the wandering of the Children of Israel through the desert wilderness after their escape from Egypt. At top is a plan of the encampment and at bottom is text describing the 42 stations along the journey. Aaron and Moses flank the title cartouche and the map is adorned with sailing ships, a vignette of Jonah and the whale and a compass rose in the lowr left that orients the map to north in the upper right corner.
