This densely engraved small map details the area between Finland, Russia, Novaya Zemyla, Northern China, Japan and the Persian Gulf. It is filled with pictorial representations of forests, mountains, tent encampments, and even a very good illustration of the Great Wall of China. A pair of ships sail in the Sea of Japan, and named above Japan itself is a wildly misshapen Terra Jedso (Hokkaido). The title cartouche is flanked with figures representing European and Asian men.

A dark impression on a sheet with nice original hand coloring. There are some minor stains and soil, mostly confined to the margins. A short tear in the left margin is closed with archival tape on the verso.
