This early example is on a full folio sheet with paste-down text panels at side, all surrounded by a most decorative rococo-style border. The interior of the map contains modest geographical information, as is typical of the period. Large rivers and several lakes are shown. The Nile appears to rise from two small lakes, located in the Mts. de la Lune above the equator. In the south there is a minimum of place names and a few tribal names. A complicated printing technique was used that required two impressions, once for the border and a second time for the map image. The separately printed text panels were than pasted down. This folio map contains the same map as Desnos' later editions, but in a larger and more decorative format.
