The Treaty of 1846 with Great Britain did not establish a US-Great Britain boundary line between Vancouver Island and Washington Territory. The Emperor of Germany consented to arbitrate the respective claims. This volume contains the text of the memorial offered by the United States by George Bancroft, the text of the case presented by Great Britain and the statement of award by the Emperor of Germany. 8vo, 271 pp. This complete example includes all seventeen maps and the profile from the treaty. Hardbound in original black cloth with gilt title on spine. A very nice example.

Condition: A

Maps and contents are near fine. The folding maps have very occasional and light fold toning and a the occassional short fold split. A few pages in Part II were folded during printing and were subsequently miscut at their lower corner. Covers, spine and binding very good with just a little spotting to edge of spine.
