An uncommon German map of Hawaii similar in outline to William Ellis' map of 1827, but with the lava flows of 1823-1859 clearly shown. The map is based on the work of William T. Brigham who explored the volcanoes on the Island of Hawaii in 1864-65. The topography is defined through hachure, with Mauna Loa, Kilauea, and Kealakua Bay among the place names noted. An uncommon and early map which focuses on lava flows.
