An uncommon map of the front of the early city of New Orleans, surveyed by Gilbert Joseph Pilie, and published in 1827. The map shows the custom house, water works, Chartres Street, and the levees along the Mississippi River. At bottom, a compass rose orients the map with north toward the upper right corner.

In quite good condition for a map of this type. The customary fold splits in the map have been repaired on the verso with archival tape and tissue. Attractive later color.
