A pair of large and rarely seen fire insurance plans with attractive pastel color and good detail. The maps have keys explaining the types of construction used for the structures of the town, and additional notations describe infrastructure, population, local crops, weather, and which buildings are properly constructed, and which are "poor and probably uninsurable." Government buildings, stores, schools, banks, post offices, parks and streets are named. Maps are dated March 1897 by Chas. E. Goad Civil Engineer Montreal & Toronto, Canada.
Roseau Dominica British Leeward Islands West Indies is presented on a scale of 200 feet to one inch. The map has a few, short edge separations, one with a bit of loss and archival tape on verso as reinforcement. Pleasant, even age toning. Grade A.
Kingstown, St. Vincent. West Indies has a scale of 120 feet to one inch. The map is chipping along the right edge, with some loss. Several additional edge separations, not affecting map. Grade B+.
