An impressive sea chart of the mouth of the La Plata River, extending northward from present-day Argentina to Santa Catarina Island in Brazil. A native holding a large reed forms the border for an ingenious inset map of the approach to Buenes Aires (Boinos Airos), set atop the scale of miles in the lower left. The title cartouche is surrounded by an exciting scene that shows a jaguar about to dispatch a monkey, while a cockatoo prepares to fly away, and a native looks on, his machete ready.

A dark impression on a sheet with attractive color. The upper margins have had paper professionally added to the verso to reinforce some paper weakness, not affecting the map. There is a faint hint of irregular toning in the upper right of the map.
