A striking map of Iceland filled with detail, including Mt. Hekla, many cities and towns, and charming pictorial topography. The mountain ranges are all described as jokul (a mountain covered with ice and snow), and two churches are shown on the island. The cartography is based on that from Niels Horrobows' 1752 travel book of Iceland, itself based on an unpublished Danish map of the island by Thomas Hans Henrik Knoff.

A nice example with delicate color, issued folding, now flattened. The right binding trim leaves a 1/8" margin, still sufficient for framing.
