A handsome matched pair of maps depicting North and South Wales. The maps are both filled with charming pictorial topography describing forests, cities, and mountains, including Snowdown Hill (Snowdon) in North Wales, the highest mountain in the country. Both maps are adorned with superb aquatic cartouches swarming with putti, coats of arms and deftly engraved sailing ships. Blank verso.

Both maps have nice original color and would frame very well. Map 1 has a few light stains, mostly in the margins. The margins have some short tears, none reaching the map, two of them with paper repairs on verso. Map 2 has a few small stains in the map and margins. There is an area of thin paper at the bottom centerfold with a tiny area of paper loss.
