Handsome map of the Persian Empire during the time of the Safavid dynasty. It covers the region from the Caucasus to India, with the Persian Gulf coastline of the Arabian peninsula. Good detail includes rivers and hundreds of tiny villages. Beautifully decorated with a sailing ship, a fine title cartouche featuring a Persian ruler and two warriors, and a local surveyor beside the scale of miles. Latin text on verso.

A dark impression and original color. The sheet has a repaired tear entering the map about 2" at top center, and there are a couple of light stains, mostly confined to the margins. Bottom margin reinforced on verso with paper.
