This striking map of the Persian Empire includes present-day Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Armenia, and Pakistan. Two large pictorial cartouches graphically depict the cultural attainments of the empire. The map is filled with detail of towns, mountains, forests, caravan routes, and a village scene is engraved in the Turkistan region.
