An uncommon map of Mauritius shown during the period of French colonization that lasted from 1715-1810. When the island was formally ceded to Britain in 1814, the name then changed from l'Isle de France to Mauritius. This map shows the coastal areas, topography and some locales within the interior. The map was engraved by Tardieu after Captain Lislet Geoffroy.

A nice impression. The map was issued folding, now flattened with archival tissue reinforcement of the folds and a couple of neat marginal repairs.
