Grand battle scene of the routing of the Spanish Armada by the English off the coast of Calais and Gravelines in 1588 in the English Channel. The foreground shows a sinking Spanish ship with people clinging to wreckage as the battle rages around them. This is from a German history by Jan Orlers, with engravings by J. de Gheyn and J. Matham.
