A well-engraved depiction of the northern constellations, with the range of brightness indicated by the size of the star from one to four. Johann Elert Bode, a self-taught astronomer, served as director of the astronomical observatory of the Berlin Academy of Science for nearly 40 years. He edited the Astonomisches Jahrbuch every year from 1774 to 1826, and published several popular astronomy texts and atlases. This chart is from his revised atlas based on Fortin, in which he included a great many newly discovered stars.

A nice example with faint damp stains in the blank margin, well away from the map.
