Near fine example of this book that provides an in depth examination of Saxon's important survey beginning in 1573 and completed in 1578. Although no manuscript maps from his survey are known, it produced two major cartographic works: the series of 34 county maps (1574 - 1579), and a superb map of England and Wales engraved on 20 plates, dated 1583. That large map is the subject of this book, which includes a facsimile of the map. Folio. Hardbound in original light blue cloth with title in white and decorative ornamentation in gilt on front cover.
