Set of four charts and plans of the French coast.

1 & 2) A pair of nicely engraved plans detail coastal portions of the former province of Roussillon, now known as the Departement of Pyrénées-Orientales. The first shows the fortified Ville de Coulioure and le Chateau. The second shows Fort du Fanal and its Redoutte. Each plan shows soundings, anchorages and fortifications. Both with a distance scale, rhumb lines and fleur-de-lys. Joseph Roux, from the Small Atlas of Harbours and Ports, Marseilles, 1779. Uncolored (7.5 x 5"). Grade B+. Both plans have some foxing and soiling, more on the second plan.
3) A Plan of the Town, Harbour and Citadel of Havre de Grace, uncolored ( 10 x 7"). This handsome plan of the French port city shows its extensive fortifications. A key at left locates churches, bastions, etc. Excellent detail of jetties, canals, marshes, and windmills, all embellished with a compass rose and a rococo-style title cartouche. Thomas Kitchin, London Magazine, July 1759. Ref: Jolly LOND-170. Grade B+ with a small stain at lower left, original margins and crisp impression.
4) Baye d'Hieres, uncolored (7.5 x 5"). The chart shows cities and towns in good detail including the fortified settlement of la Boute. Also shown are soundings, anchorages and towns with building icons. A distance scale, rhumb lines and fleur-de-lys accent the map. Joseph Roux, from the Small Atlas of Harbours and Ports, Marseilles, 1779. The plan has some foxing and damp staining. One contemporary ink notation on the map at lower left and two in the margin. Grade B.
