Fine pair of plans of the city of Athens in ancient times. The first shows the city with a clear depiction of the roads and city walls (12.8 x 8"). The second depicts the environs of Athens to include the port at Piraeus with the Long Walls that connect the two cities (8 x 6.3"). These plans were published in an imaginary travel journal by Jean Jacques Barthelemy, a historical fiction set in ancient Greece with a title that translates to The Travels of Anacharsis the Younger in Greece.
