A lovely view of Batavia, now Jakarta, and the approach from sea. The map illustrates the surrounding fields, including the gardens, fortifications and housing. There is a fort at the right of the map named Jacatra. A large compass rose at the upper right orients the map, and a delicately engraved title cartouche completes the composition.
