This scarce plan of Rio de Janeiro is based on the work of D'Apres de Mannevillette with improvements by Sampson Hall, Chief Mate of the Royal Bishop, and from the plan by Simão Antonio da Roza Pinheiro. The map provides superb detail of the harbor with two small profile views and extensive sailing directions. The track of the Pitt in 1763 and the Royal Bishop are noted, along with numerous soundings.
