A great astronomical chart showing the motions of the planets according to the Copernican theory of the solar system. The inset at the bottom gives the scale of the solar system compared with the Hugenian estimate of the distance between the Sun and Sirius. The female representation of Terra is depicted surrounded by putti representing the stars. Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr was a professor of mathematics at the Aegidien Gymnasium in Nuremberg. He collaborated with Homann on most of Homann's celestial maps.
