This is a fine pocket map that folds into blue cloth covers (3.2 x 5") with embossing and gilt stamped title. The map is very detailed and hand colored by county. It locates Principle Roads, Common Roads, Existing and Proposed Canals, and Railroads. There are a surprising number of railroads already in existence including the Stonington, Boston & Providence, Eastern, Western, New Haven & Hartford, the Hudson & Berkshire and several others. There is an uncolored inset of a plan of Boston. Longitude is given from Greenwich and from Washington. Fancy titling and keyboard-style border; printed on fine banknote style paper. Original pasted paper label on inside front cover gives population by counties and an explanation of the census. Map is "Sold by Thomas, Cowperthwaite & Co. No. 253 Market Street, New York."

The map is very good less some light offsetting near title and a little toning where pasted into cover. Short binding trim tear. Binding with some rubbing to covers and wear to spine.
