This fine pocket map is an early road map specifically designed for the automobile traveler. Color overprinting is used to identify road types; State Roads, Good Automobile Routes, Other Routes, and Electric Railways. The map is boldly engraved and colored and shows all towns, villages, roads, lakes and more throughout the area. It extends to show New Bedford, and as far north as Kingston; details Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Ferry routes are also delineated. The map is segmented on 21 panels with original linen backing. Self-folds with front paper label "12 Automobile Map of Massachusetts Cape Cod Section." Rear paper label is a the full list of 37 "Automobile Maps" published by Walker Lithography, Boston. An early and desirable automobile road map.
