This is a fine map of northern Italy centered on the dramatic fortress of Mantua. The map is beautifully engraved with unusual graphic depictions of the grain fields for which the Duchy of Mantua was renowned. The map is graced with a strapwork title cartouche incorporating the coat of arms and a scale cartouche with Jansson imprint. Dutch text on verso.

Paper edges are lightly toned with a couple tiny edge tears, all well away from the map.
