This spectacular plan shows Rome during the reign of Septimius Severo, Emperor from 193 to 211. The magnificent architecture of the city is shown pictorially. The map was drawn by Jacob Toornvliet, engraved by Pierre Philippe and published in Johannis Rosini's history of ancient Rome.

Condition: A

Issued folding, now flattened with the binding side margin professionally extended to accommodate framing. A nearly invisible 2.5" binding tear and a couple of fold intersection splits are also expertly repaired.
