This is the first edition of George E. Richards' comprehensive guidebook to San Francisco, dated July 25th, 1896. In original green paper covers, 140 pages, illustrated with numerous maps of rail lines and stops. This very up-to-date publication has many addendum tipped-in in pink slips, for example "Pointers taking effect August 17" lists changes to the schedule for eight lines. California St. Line, Castro St. Line -- in all, 47 maps of these intra-city railway lines are shown. Information for the tourist includes sections on; Car, Carriage and Coupe rates of fare, Ferry Boats and Trains, Baths, Pacific Postal Telegraph Offices, Newspapers, Societies, Theaters, and more. Eight different business are advertised, including on the inside front cover "Take the Sutro Railroad for Seal Rocks and Cliff House." A rarely seen guide book. Published by George E.
