This scarce map was issued in a supplement to the Saturday Blade, Saturday, May 14, 1898. The Saturday Blade was a weekly newspaper published in Chicago by the Mutual Newspaper Publishing Company, which was founded by William D. Boyce. The map illustrates the region involved in the Spanish American War so that the American public could follow the events. There is a large inset of Havana Harbor and a smaller inset of the Philippine Islands showing its location in relation to Hong Kong. The map has the appearance of maps created by the George F. Cram company, also of Chicago, but there is not such attribution.
