This is a very uncommon map from the work of the Protestant minister and oriental scholar Samuel Bochart (1599-1667). Place names are given in Latin and Hebrew. A large inset map provides great detail of Syracuse, an ancient Greek settlement on the Ionian coast. The title cartouche is festooned with mythical figures including Neptune.
