This is a graphic engraving illustrating the Great Siege of Gibraltar. This was an unsuccessful attempt by Spain and France to capture Gibraltar from the British during the American War of Independence. It was the longest siege ever endured in the history of the British armed forces, as well as being one of the longest continuous sieges in the history of the world. The view presents a great view of the Spanish blockade with a key and German text describing the siege.
