This is a finely executed chart of Zhoushan Harbor, which is located just south of Shanghai. The chart presents a significant amount of detail with soundings, anchorages and extensive notations. At bottom is a plan of the City of Ting-Hai and vicinity and a unique circular panoramic view from an anchorage in the harbor. John Barrow was the private secretary to Lord Macartney when he was ambassador to China. He was later Secretary to the Admiralty and was a vice-president and founding member of the Royal Geographical Society. Published in London by George Nicol.
