Attractive map of the region from India to Thailand and Vietnam. The map illustrates the travels of Sir William Methold in the Gulf of Bengal. Methold, an Englishman employed by the Dutch, was the first European to visit the diamond mines of Golconda (Golcondae Regn) in southeast India. The map is neatly engraved with mountains, extensive river systems, and cities. It is decorated with a compass rose and a pictorial cartouche showing the Methold expedition.
