This fascinating little map of the continent is based on the Janvier map of the same title. It shows the imaginary Sea of the West (Mer de l'Ouest) complete with a suite of islands, and a Northwest Passage stretching from Baffin Bay to the Archipel St. Lazare through a complex system of lakes and rivers. The United States (still noted as Possessions Anglaises) is confined east of the Mississippi River and French Louisiana stretches to the Pacific Northwest. An interesting array of mountain ranges criss-cross the continent, including a spurious mountain range running the length of the Florida peninsula. The simple, block title cartouche is in the upper right corner.
