Both maps show about the same area, with the second map slightly larger to show more land east of Denver and the newly constructed line to Arlington. The maps extend from Las Vegas, New Mexico in the southeast to Salt Lake City and Ogden in the extreme northwest. Overprinted color is used to indicate Standard Gauge, Narrow Gauge, and Three Rail lines. Both have fine engraving and coloring, but the earlier map (17" x 14") oddly uses crude overprinting to insert some town names including Durango, La Plata, Montrose, Gunnison, Salt Lake City, Pueblo and Denver. The 1904 map (19 x 13.5") has more place names and details new lines, principally in the mining districts. Both with the company's distinctive logo.
