This lot is a great series of photographs taken in 1906 by Tom M. Phillips. The photographs document the devastation caused by the earthquake of January 29, 1906 and the resulting fires. Scenes include many important buildings (The Emporium, American Hotel, City Hall, St. Francis Hotel), numerous refugee images taken in Golden Gate Park and in the city, and panoramic shots of the devastation. The UC at Berkeley apparently has the full collection of 37 stereographs. Together a fine and poignant collection of images from this natural disaster.

Condition: A
Remarkable condition with none of the fading we normally see on stereo views. A couple with edge soiling from handling and a couple with some chips at corner, one with some creases, still very nice and better than normal.
