This pair of fine engravings is by Jacques de Gheyn II, an important Dutch artist and engraver. He produced 117 engravings for this influential military manual intended for the instruction of Dutch armies in their retaliation against Spanish rule. Plate #14 shows a musketeer and plate #18 depicts a pikeman.
