These original leaves are from a rare book containing the office of the Catholic Mass, printed in Venice. This book was published during the period of transition from manuscript to printing and incorporates the illuminated manuscript tradition with woodcut illustrations within the large initials. The first contains four-line music on both sides, boldly printed in black and red ink. The second contains two columns of printed text with each side adorned with a large, historiated woodcut initial.
