This lot is composed of five early American-produced geographies. Each is complete except as noted below. The lot includes:
1) "A Short but Comprehensive System of the Geography of the World…", by Nathaniel Dwight, Hartford, 1796, 225 pp, (4 x 6.5"). This early Hartford-produced geography was not issued with maps or illustrations. Printed by Hudson & Goodwin. Ink signature on title page. (B)
2) "A Short but Comprehensive System of the Geography of the World…", by Nathaniel Dwight, Northampton, 1811, 216 pp, (4.3 x 6.8"). Another Dwight geography which does not use maps. Published by Simeon Butler and printed by J. Denio, Greenfield. Ink signature on front and back blank end paper, ink notations on cover.
3) "First Lessons of Geography and Astronomy, with Seven Maps, and a Plate of the Solar System…", Boston, 1823, 82 pp, (5.2 x 5.8"). Fourth edition with maps of the world, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Solar System. Paper covers with title, scattered foxing, loose signatures, some ink or pencil notations on various pages. (C+)
4) "Outlines of Modern Geography…", by Rev. Charles A. Goodrich, 1827, 252 pp, (3.5 x 5.8:). Filled with numerous engravings including the solar system. (B)
5) "A Geography of Boston, County of Suffolk and The Adjacent Towns...", by C.H. Snow, Boston, 1830, 162 pp, ( 3.8 x 6"). Folding map of Boston (4" x 6") by A. Bowen is hand colored. Filled with wood engravings in text. Map at end is missing. Published by Carter and Hendee, Boston. Owner's name on free end paper. (B)
