This lot has four American-produced School geographies, as follows:

1) G.W. Colton, New York, 1863, hardbound, 8.3 x 9.8", 134 pp, hand color. This Civil War period geography is "Illustrated by Forty Maps, and Numerous Engravings" including fine maps of Texas, United States, California, and the Southwest. Pictorial cover with teacher instructing her class in geography with a map and large globe. A little soiling on cover, still fine (A+).

2) S. Griswald Goodrich, Boston, 1833, paper covers, 8.8 x 11 inches, hand color. Sixteen full and double page maps plus five tables. The map of the Untied States has a huge Missouri Territory. Also Arkansas Territory is oversized with its western boundary extending to Mexico at the edge of the panhandle of Texas. Texas is named. Oregon Territory extends from Mexico northward well into Canada and from the Pacific to the Continental Divide at Missouri Terr. A few foxing spots in the maps, covers a little soiled and spine starting (B+).

3) S. Griswald Goodrich, Boston, 1837, paper covers, 8.8 x 11 inches, hand color. Sixteen full and double page maps plus five tables. This geography is identical to the above 1833 version in content and condition. (B+)

4) George J. Ordway, New York, 1830, paper covers, 9.3 x 11.8 inches, hand color. Nine engraved and well colored maps, single and double page. The United States features a large Arkansas Territory with its western boundary extending to Mexico at the edge of the panhandle of Texas. This uncommon atlas was published by Collins & Hannay, New York. Covers water stained, maps have occasional foxing (B+).
