This very unusual German map of the world is presented on an oval projection, which was popular nearly two centuries prior to its publication. The map traces Captain Cook's three voyages and features an unusual depiction of the region of Alaska and Kamchatka with a very narrow passage between the two continents. This map is not recorded in any institutional collections that we can find and would make a great addition to a collection focused on the discoveries of Capt. Cook.
