The island is shown with remarkable detail including towns, roads, villages, rivers, coastal detail, and topography in fine hachure. Four insets depict the smaller islands of Iles de la Petite Terre, Iles des Saintes, Ile de Marie - Galante and Ile de la Desirade. Three distance scales and surrounding keyboard-style border complement the design. Le Vasseur was the nephew and successor to A. Pilon who also worked with Dufour; his maps are uncommon.
