This tiny Leo Belgicus map is set in the masthead of the Journal de la Belgique, a French language newspaper. The map is based on the original 1538 Aitsinger form with the lion standing facing right , the right paw raised and holding a shield with the national motto: L'Union fait la force (Strength in Unity). Printed on a full sheet (9 x 10.8") of French text with an accompanying leaf.
