A delightful little map of Iceland that is based on the map of Joris Carolus. M. Hekla is shown erupting and the title cartouche is fashioned in the shape of a volcano. Pierre Duval was Nicolas Sanson's nephew and pupil. He published a wide range of atlases and individual maps including the fine miniature world geography. This is one of the few maps in the atlas that is not based on his uncle's work.
