This heavily engraved thematic chart graphically presents the relative sizes of the world's mountains. Volcanoes are depicted with billowing smoke. The view is divided into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. Each mountain is numbered and keyed to the detailed table at the sides and below the chart.

On thick paper with full margins this is an early, dark impression. Uncolored as issued, uncommon for Buchon's work which were normally fully hand colored.
