These three maps cover the northern coast of Africa from Libya through Morocco. They provide details of the region during Roman times. One of the most interesting features is the Great Syrtic and Little Syrtis shown off the coast of Libya. These notations refer to the dangerous sandbanks that were particularly hazardous to shipping. The map of Africa Proper is decorated with a large title cartouche featuring a Roman conqueror, while the other two maps contain simple title blocks. Image sizes vary slightly. Engraved by I. Basire.
