This is Volume II of Bartlett's monumental work. The beautifully executed steel engravings are accompanied with descriptive text by N. P. Willis. The title page for volume II is "Entrance to the Hudson Highlands, Near Newburgh." The volume contains 52 full-page steel engravings including images of Newhaven, Niagara, Lake Winipiseogee, Norwich, Boston, New York, President's house in Mount Vernon, Baltimore, Bank of the US in Philadelphia, the Washington Monument, and more. In all 52 steel engravings of America plus an engraved pictorial title page. Hardbound in green cloth with brown leather spine, raised bands and gilt titling.

The condition code is for the plates, which have scattered foxing and are good to very good with the plates closer to the end showing more foxing. The title page is heavily foxed, page before title page is missing. Covers and spine are worn and stained with upper panel on spine loose on one side.
