This attractive map shows the newly formed thirteen states with their western border on the Mts. Allagany and Monts Apalache. The region beyond is labeled the Contree des Six Nations. Numerous place names, Indian regions, forts and rivers are located on this relatively early chart of the United States. The map is surrounded by a bold and striking decorative border, topped with fleurs-de-lys, that was printed from a separate copper plate.
