This colorful pocket map, published by H.W. Faust, shows the city's layout at the end of the nineteenth century and is the 14th or "Latest Edition." This map has an inset showing a broader view of the Bay area, and a legend that explains some of the features of the map, such as ward boundaries and streetcar routes. Locates parks, squares, city blocks, and government reservations. Water bodies are shown in color with streets shown in white and labeled in black. This edition contains numerous additions, tracts and homestead associations plus many named features including the California Jockey Club, Lick Old Ladies Home, piers, Union Iron Works, etc., to mention a few. Street car lines are marked and distances from Ferry Landing at the foot of Market Street are marked in 1/2 mile concentric circles. Interestingly, one of the most prominent landmarks are several large cemeteries taking up much of the real estate near Golden Gate Park. Folds into paper covers with 126pp tourist booklet filled with information and advertisements. In the later part of the nineteenth century Henry W. Faust issued about fifteen editions of this map of San Francisco both in pocket form (accompanied by a street directory, city guide, or both, or neither) and as wall maps. Printed by Galloway Litho. Co.
