This is a single sheet Gold Rush lettersheet from the "Life in the Mines" series published by Britton & Rey of San Francisco. Contains two lithographed scenes on the front: "Flume" showing a small creek with elevated edges, two paddlewheels and four miners working the sluice, and "Elevating Water Wheel" shows the wheel diverting creek water to the sluice box and two miners working their claim. Lettersheets were sold to miners to use as a letter to home. This example is unused with the verso blank. A rare, desirable issue.
