This beautifully hand-drawn map has an end paper attached with the following inscription: "Hon. Alpheus Felch U.S. Senate from Charles Noble Sur. Genl 1850." This is apparently the sole map from Noble's very scarce General Instructions to the Deputies; by the Surveyor General of the United States for the states of Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, Detroit: W.W. Hart, 1850. The map was used to demonstrate how to translate the detailed field notes from the township survey onto a map. OCLC locates only two copies of the book and we find no past sales information on the book or map. A great rarity.
