This lot has two well done reproduction maps showing land ownership. The first is A Chorographical Map of the Province of New York in North America, Divided into Counties Manors Patents and Townships; Exhibiting likewise all the private Grants of Land…by Order of His Excellency Major General William Tryon, Claude Joseph Sauthier, 1849, 27.5 x 37". The map was originally engraved and published by William Faden, London 1749. This is the reduced version reproduced by D. Vaughan in 1849. It is a fascinating map of the region that shows hundreds of land patents with the owners named. Filled with amazing detail including roads and trails, villages and towns, terrain, watershed, forts, lakes and more. A truly remarkable and historical map. It covers the region bounded by the Delaware, Susquehanna Rivers on the west, the St. Laurence River to Lake Francis and the 45th parallel in the north and Connecticut River on the east. Engraved on stone by R.H. Pease, Albany, NY. Beautiful compass rose below Long Island. Folded as issued with a little foxing in a few areas and one fold with light toning (B+).

The second is Map of the Head Waters of the Rivers Susquehanna & Delaware Embracing the Early Patents on the South Side of the Mohawk from the Original, drawn about the year 1790, by Simeon de Witt Esq. Survey General &c. State of New York, 1850, (21.8 x 19.6). This detailed land grant map covers regions south of the Mohawk and west of the Tiananderha Rivers. It shows the original grants with owner's names and dates. The map was drawn from a map by Simeon de Witt, Surveyor General of the State of New York in about 1790. At top is a small landscape vignette and elegant lettering are used in the long title. Folded as issued. Save for a small area of light offsetting in blank area the map is flawless (A).
